Lulu's Love List

I thought I'd start off with chocolate!  When I'm trying to watch my dessert intake (which is very difficult because I LOVE sweets), this is the perfect bite!  If you haven't noticed I have a bit of an obsession with Trader Joe's :)

I absolutely love this product.  It makes my skin smooth, evens our the look of pores and makes my skin glow!  Highly recommend!

My mother bought me this book for Christmas.  I think Stacy is one classy lady and I really enjoyed reading about her.  One of my favorite things she says in the book is, "Style is about enhancing who you are, and not attempting to look like someone you'll never be.  With style, there are as many ways a woman can look beautiful as there are women.  Style is yours to own and a celebration of the individual that you are.  Style can make you feel empowered, stronger and cooler..  It succeeds when you are the best version of  yourself, not a poor version of someone else's ideal."

It's an excellent book to help you stay true to yourself!

As I mentioned before (seen here)  I have THE most crazy bottom eyelashes, you've ever seen.  They are almost nonexistent.  I finally caved and bought some designer mascara.  I've heard so much about Dior that I had to see for myself.  I can't say I love it for my bottom lashes (still on the lookout for the perfect brand), but it's fantastic for my upper lashes.  I need a mascara that will thicken my lashes and this gives thickness & length!  Worth the money!

It's time for spring but tonight in Philly we're getting snow!  All season I've been wanting the white stuff, better late than never.  Since we're still in the cold season I decided to make a scrumptious comfort food - meatloaf!  I make individual loaves because it's more fun and better for freezing.  When you want an individual portion pull out from the icebox and heat it up!  This is seriously the BEST meatloaf.  Recipe below:

Alton Brown's Meatloaf

6 oz flavored garlic croutons
1/2 t ground black pepper
1/2 t cayenne pepper
1 t ground thyme
1 t chili powder
1/2 onion
1 carrot peeled
3 cloves of garlic
1/2 red bell pepper
18 oz ground chuck
18 oz sirloin
1 1/2 t kosher salt
1 egg

Glaze (I usually make a double recipe because I'm a saucy girl):
1/2 c ketchup
1 t cumin
dash of Worcestershire sauce
dash of hot sauce
1 T of honey

Directions:
Heat oven to 325 Degrees F

In a food processor bowl, combine croutons, black pepper, cayenne pepper, chili powder, and thyme. Pulse until the mixture is a fine texture.  Place this mixture into a large bowl.  Combine onion, carrot, garlic, and red pepper in the food processor bowl.  Pulse until the mixture is finely chopped but not pureed.  Combine the vegetable mixture, ground meats with the bread crumb mixture.  Season meat with pepper and salt. Add the egg and combine thoroughly, but avoid squeezing the meat.

As I mentioned I like to make individual loaves.  So I place the meat mixture in large muffin tins, filling about 3/4 of the way up.  I usually cook this for about 40 minutes.  Adding the glaze to the top of the meat after the meatloaf has been cooking 10 minutes.

For the glaze, combine all ingredients and mix together well.  This recipe usually makes about 10 individual loaves.

Enjoy your comfort food!

Happy Wednesday loves!

  8. You are gorgeous! I think I've got a bit of an obsession with Trader Joe's too, but that's well deserved because I love their quality products. I mostly stick to drugstore makeup, but I'm thinking that I need to try out more high end makeup. :) And THANK YOU for that meatloaf recipe--I love meatloaf and this recipe looks do-able enough!

  15. Have you tried lancome? I like their deficil one (sp is totally off LOL). Its the one where julia roberts did the ads for a little while back. I have long eyelashes but when I don't wear mascara you can't see them. I always go back to lancome even when I try other things (I've tried Dior as well..I liked it but went back to lancome). xo

  16. Those brownies sound amazing. Dark chocolate or even regular chocolate with some sea salt is better in my opinion. Is that a new book by Stacy London? Is it a worthy read? I love your up-close photo, you have such natural beauty. Ohh and that dish looks yummy & quite healthy.
