Deck the Halls

My family had a tradition growing up where we would go and cut our Christmas tree down together the day after Thanksgiving.  So while everyone else was at the mall, scouring around for all the perfect gifts, we were hiking around a farm looking for our perfect tree.  At home while the Christmas music was playing with Andy Williams or Joni Mitchell, Dad would set up the tree while the girls would decorate the house.  We had some elegant decorations, but a lot were handmade trinkets my grandmother, me or my sister had made through the years.  I remember it being one of my favorite days of the year.  No stress, just music, fun, and laughter.

Today it's a little more chaotic, did my mom feel that way?  Two six year olds who want to help make it challenging.  So years ago I stocked up cute and fun decorations that are just for the nuggets.  For me?  I still like elegant Christmas touches.  You can tell from the style board that I love keeping a winter white theme and adding pops of color.  It's clean and fresh much like a new fallen snow.  There was so much to share, I couldn't fit it all in here!  For more holiday inspiration take a look at the SLS Holiday Page and Holiday Home Pinterest board.  Some of my favorite retailers for decorating:
I'll be decorating a little early this year.  My mom is coming to visit next weekend and we've decided to have an early family holiday decorating party (minus the tree, we still cut ours down with the nuggets the day after Thanksgiving).  The trinkets will go up, cookies will be baked and eaten, and the good 'ol Christmas music will be playing.  I will definitely share pictures soon.

Here's to the start of my favorite time of the year!  Have a beautiful day.
