Simply Lulu Style & MommyFit!

One of my passions along with fashion is fitness.  If I'm not shopping (online of course), then I'm usually at the gym.  Simply Lulu Style today is interviewing my trainer, Dani Simonian.  Dani is a mom, fitness trainer extraordinaire, and founder of MommyFit a complete fitness and wellness program of all things Mommy! MommyFit and Simply Lulu Style will be partnering for blogs, Facebook posts, fun fashion & fitness events.

We sat and chatted over lunch at our local health club about our new projects.  And I asked her some questions about what women can do during pregnancy and after to be fit and healthy.

In today's blog we're talking fitness, during and after pregnancy.

Q – As far as exercise, what do you recommend during pregnancy?
A – “Just move!”  Don’t think about how horrible you feel, just show up, and do it! You’ll feel better during and after, and simply for the reason you are doing something great for your and your baby!

jacket, Athleta (old, similar here)  |  pants, Champion @ Target  |  sneaks, Nike  |  bag, Lululemon (old, similar here)

Q – After pregnancy, what is the best cardio exercise to help you lose those pregger pounds?
A – Interval training.  Take for instance the elliptical…  Set your resistance & incline at a challenging level (she recommended a 4 for incline, and 5-6 for resistance once you are warmed up).  Warm up 2 min., then sprint for 20 seconds, pace for 10 seconds (sprint & pace like this 8 times), then pace for 2 mins.  Repeat 2 sets like this.  Also resistance training will work off pregnancy pounds.  Full body combination exercises with resistance are great with bouts of cardio in between.

What's in my gym bag?  Water bottle  |  ipod/iphone case  |  antibacterial hand lotion  |  tennis ball (loosens tense shoulders)  |  kleenex  |workout journal & exercise plan  |  cosmetic bag (filled with girl stuff)  |  lock for locker

Q – What are some other basic things women can do to feel healthy?
A – Get good rest!  Which is hard sometimes with all the things we have to do each day, plus take care of our children.  The sleep factor is very important. It helps you lose weight, and feel good. If your baby is up in the middle of the night and sleeps during the day, commit to getting in good sleep breaks along with your baby!

Hugs to Dani for sharing her thoughts and time for the Lulu interview.  We will have more interviews and events to share with Dani and MommyFit in the future.  You can also find Simply Lulu Style, Fashion Fridays on the MommyFit Facebook page (here).

simply yours,
XO - Lulu
