This cake is a pop of spring in your mouth. So light and citrusy - you and your guests will love it!
Ingredients for cake (tip: I cut the cake ingredients in half because the cake is SO tall if you don't)
- 3 3/4 c all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 t baking powder
- 3/4 t salt
- 1 1/2 c (3 stick) unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 2 1/2 c sugar
- 7 large whole eggs, lighten beaten
- 1 1/2 t vanilla extract
- 1 c milk
- 1/2 t each: grated lemon, orange, lime peels
- 1/3 c poppy seeds + more for sprinkling
Ingredients for Cream Cheese Frosting (I use the entire recipe, it's sooo good!)
- 12 oz of cream cheese, room temperature
- 6 T of unsalted butter, rom temperature
- 3 c of confectioner sugar
Add all the ingredients and beat together until smooth. This frosting goes between the cake layers, but not on top.
Lemon Glaze
- 1/2 c of confectioners sugar
- 3+ T of lemon juice (may take a little more for the right consistency, think maple syrup)
Pour lemon glaze on top of cake in the center of the cake. As more of the glaze pours out it will spread to the outter edges and "waterfall" over the edge. Sprinkle poppy seeds on top. Enjoy!
A Martha Stewart recipe
This beautiful little birds nest is on my front door wreath. I was already to change it when my husband spotted the beautiful eggs. Momma bird has been keeping them warm!
This banquette was a work in progress and now finished! My husband built the benches and I had the cushions made. I bought the pillows and it's really a wonderful place to sit, eat, and talk together as a family.
Sunflowers! What better to brighten your day.
This is a gorgeous wooden canister my husband turned. He's been really into woodworking, bowl turning, and this was something new he learned. I love it!
These are my loves this week. What are your loves lately? Have a wonderful Wednesday!

That cake makes me so hungry! (which is saying a lot bc I'm more of a savory than a sweets person). SO in love with the banquette! I am going to reproduce it shamelessly in my future home!
