Purpose

This time of year, after the holidays, I seem to get the winter blues.  You know what I mean?  The weather is cold, there are more cloudy days than sunny, and I sort of just want to curl up and not come out of my cave.  In addition to that my life is in a sort of change mode.  The nuggets are in school all day and while I work a part-time job, it's not the heart of me.  SLS fulfills some creative "juices", but I don't feel it will ever be a full-time thing.  So... where does that leave me?  Well, I'm not sure and still trying to figure that out.  Since I started blogging I have often wondered why am I doing this and why wasn't this a thing when I was in my twenties?  Blogging, working, being a momma is challenging.  Especially when you're starting from scratch.  I'm continuing to try to figure it all out, where I should go, and what I should do.  Like most of us, I want my life to mean something, to contribute something.  It's my desire not only to inspire your outer beauty, but your inner soul.

While visiting family over Christmas we got to attend my home church which I miss dearly.  The pastor that gave the message ended by saying "To God who created me, to Jesus who saved me, and to the Holy Spirit that lives within me."  That sank deep in my soul and will stay with me forever.

When my husband and I started dating he used to send me song lyrics (love songs) and they melted my heart.  Today I'm sharing some song lyrics that recently spoke to me as I ponder my purpose and I hope they speak to you too.

-Ashes Remain

Thanks so much for reading.  Have a day with purpose!

  2. This is a beautiful post. I can relate so well. Being a fashion blogger (which has been difficult for me the last few months), running a business, having two littles at home and being a wife---this post speaks to me to and is exactly what I am going through. My youngest will be going to full-time K next year and I have also been wondering my purpose too. Stay strong mama, from what I can see you are doing an amazing job and I love reading your blog :-)

  3. Wow! Thank you for writing that. I needed to hear that and know I am not alone with the similar thoughts that are continually on my mind. I love what your pastor said.

  4. Hi Lulu, this is a great post. It makes me sad though too as I've felt the same. I think your style blog is awesome! I'm in my mid 40's and am obsessed with fashion as well. You do have a purpose and that is to raise your children to be confident and be the best they can be and I feel you are a good example for them. At the very least, you have that. I have also wished that blogging was a thing in my 20's. But who cares! You are doing it and doing it well. It's inspiring and great you are sharing your gift of style. I for one love it and look forward to seeing your posts. You fill a niche for us older than 30's women who have taken good care of ourselves and want to dress well and not look like a frumpy old ladies;) Maybe more posts on what you do to take such great care of yourself and look so great while having twins:) p.s. I'm a twin and my sister has twins and it is a lot of work! Please keep blogging and sharing:)

  7. Lulu, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Trust me, many of us are in your shoes with feeling that our jobs are ours hearts content,, although we enjoy the majority of what we do. A conversation I have with my girlfriends often. I totally had to give myself a pep talk heading back to work Monday morning.

I love you blog and check it daily. I would really miss it if you stopped blogging. I have recommended it to others. I don't have a blog myself, despite my husband's urgings. I too am in my 40s and wonder why there weren't blogs in my 20s. Your beautiful outfits give me fashion inspiration and I love your gift suggestions. I also love your fitness and beauty posts. I hope selfishly for me, you continue to blog! :)
