Since I was little girl I remember the most scrumptious blueberry muffins my mother used to make. The recipe is from a Jordan Marsh, an old New England department store chain. In 1996 the last of the stores were converted to Macy's. But the Jordan Marsh's Big Blues recipe is still famous. This is seriously THE most delicious blueberry muffin (or cake as I like to say). I could eat the batter even before the muffins are baked!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 2 tsp. of baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. of salt
- 2 1/2 cup of blueberries
- 1 1/2 vanilla extract
- 2 Tbps. of sugar (to sprinkle on top of muffins - yum!)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each one. In a separate bowl combine all dry ingredients. Alternate dry ingredients with the milk, starting and ending with the dry mix. Add vanilla.
Optionally mash 1/2 cup of blueberries and add to the mixture (I love doing this because it turns the batter to a lovely lavender color). Fold in the rest of the blueberries.
Add the mixture to muffin cups within your muffin tin. Sprinkle sugar on top of the unbaked mixture. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Enjoy! Trust me, you will!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day.

I also like to say cake :) It is good to know the story behind it, like the store that held the recipe. I am sure they are delicious! I have to confess my bad habit - I ate so much cake this week that I need a detox for some days... and after that I will eat cakes again! I simply can't help, I love them!
