My favorite room of the house. Our coffee bar is in the corner here (not in the picture), and I love to sit in my comfy chairs and sip my coffee. It's like being in the treetops!
We took out the door to my husband's office and replaced it with this beautiful barn door. The rails were purchased here and the door I bought for $7 at a Habitat Restore!! :)
Our coffee bar, which also doubles as a wine bar with guests :) We get a lot of compliments on this!
This is the first "renovation" of this kitchen. We had so many large things that we had to improve (new roof, windows etc) that a large kitchen renovation was not in the budget. Our kitchen had a florescent light above the island and the island was granite with a large crack in it! There was also an electric stove - yuck for cooking if you enjoy cooking. So we removed the florescent light and put in these beautiful pendants which is also in the eat-in area of our kitchen. My husband who is a talented woodworker made our kitchen island from ribbon mahogany that we chose together. It is the same wood that the peninsula has in the far end of this picture (also see below).
This is another angle of the kitchen island. You can see how the sitting area and coffee bar is connected to our kitchen from this picture.
This is the kitchen peninsula with the same wood on the island. It makes the kitchen have a cohesive look.
Most of my area rugs are gray and blue. I wanted to bring in a little color with this kitchen rug, so I chose this pink beauty with still some blue. It still coordinates very well with our other rugs!
We have limited chairs in our house right now... I'd love to get a larger dining room table (to seat at least 10). Right now we can sort of fit 8? But for nights when we have friends or family over and we're sipping wine, we needed some chairs to pull out quickly. I wanted something unique and different. I searched Etsy and other websites, but everything I saw wasn't quite right or was just too expensive for "temporary" chairs. So I found these on Amazon and made them vintage! I plan on doing a before and after soon. :)
This is also a favorite room. Our family room is super cozy. I LOVE having a real, wood burning fireplace. My husband laughed when we bought the house last year saying he didn't think I would build fires. HA! I AM the fire builder and have already made 2 this season :)
I bought these club chairs a few weeks ago. Our family room needed some additional seating, but I wanted something comfortable. We all gravitate to the sofa but it's hard to fit all four of us on it comfortably. I LOVE these. Super affordable, so comfortable, easy to put together. Lots of love all around.
My office. It's still a work in progress, but several weeks ago I repainted it and alllllll the molding. Happy that it's done. If you follow me at all on Instagram you know I despise painting (walls). At some point I'd like a new desk. I do love this one, but it's just not big enough.
Miss Cleo! She is a loving, wonderful kitty and we're so happy to have her in our family. She is my constant companion and follows me everywhere.
So this is our little house. It's been a year for sure. Sometimes it feels like the year flew by and other days it feels like we've been here forever. Isn't that the way life goes?
