My Routine

pink top with workout capris and sneakers

Hello!  I know I've been lax on posts this week.  I think I really got worn out over the weekend and just needed a few days to recoup.  We had an amazing time at my cousin's wedding and got to spend some wonderful with family.  Jack and Ella walked down the aisle arm in arm and it was adorable!

Today I'm sharing an introduction to my workout routine.  I'll be getting more specific in more posts and you can follow me and see more on Instastories.  First things first.  I'm not a fitness coach nor a nutritional counselor.  I'm sharing my routine with you for inspiration and to see how you might start your own routine.  Take bits and pieces from this and find what works for you and your body.

I have been in shape most of my life (a few years not so much).  But being a competitive gymnast for 11 years taught me about working out and taking care of my body.  But now.... I am over 40 - eek!  I have found that working out over 40 is very different.  I have to be more careful on what workouts I do (no burpees for me).  Between my gymnastic days and being pregnant with twins, my back has major issues.  From a rib that goes out of whack to my sacrum that twists it hurts almost everyday in one place or another.  Most days I can't even wear a regular bra!  It's either a bra tank or a seamless or wireless bra.  I also now see a chiropractor several times a month to help get all those crazy things back in place!

I don't workout every day.  I've heard some others say they look forward to it, but I don't.  Never have, probably never will.  However, I feel great after I do and better and better each week I commit too.  I don't workout everyday for 2 reasons.  One I don't feel that I need to.  On the days that I don't workout, I'm still very active around my house, errands and so forth.  Secondly it just gives me and my body a break.  I know some workout focus on different body parts each day, but when I workout it's full body.  I get a lot of my exercises from a trainer friend and Pinterest.  Each month I pick out 5 to 10 exercises per body part - abs, back, legs & butt, arms.  Within that month every 2 weeks I'll increase the reps.  I also do 30 minute of cardio a cross between running and walking on an incline.

The hardest part of working out is getting up to do it.  You have to push yourself.  If you don't workout every day?  Pick your days and times.  Slow and steady wins the race friends. :)
