Since I started making jewelry a few years ago (Simply Lulu Design) I've developed quite a collection. It's been stashed in a jewelry box, jewelry tree and jewelry drawer. We recently had our room painted (after being in our house 5 years) and now I'm working on actually decorating it. I wanted to start with something simple and thought that a jewelry board would be lovely to display all of my pieces. To me, it's almost like a piece of artwork, sparkly and colorful!
I started with plywood, wrapped it with quilt batting and a fabric I had chosen. I wanted to add a little detail, so I framed it with grograin ribbon and decorative nails (that were not easy to nail in). My hubs heard me curse several times... The hooks are simple because I wanted to let the jewelry be the show. It's not hung on the wall yet because the hubs was gone at a conference and I wanted to show off my jewelry board!
What do you think? Have a great day!
Love the result !

Lulu! I had pinned this a long time ago, but never got around to doing it! You've inspired me! None of the ones I saw on pinterest were as beautiful on this one! You did an amazing job my friend! I have to try this!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! This would make a perfect gift too!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever hang this up? I am curious how heavy it is? I'm making something similar and can't decide if plywood would be too heavy or if I should go with a cork board - but it has to be thick to manage the weight of the necklaces. Your's is really pretty!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, I did hang it up. Honestly I'm not sure I remember how my husband and I did it! But it is up. It's made from plywood with some cotton batting over top. I'm sure we used wall anchors. You can find some that hold up to 75 lbs even so I'm sure it would be fine. Good luck!
DeleteWhat kind of hooks did you use to hang the jewelry on?
