I don't know about you, but that doesn't describe me at all. My husband and kids would completely agree with me. I'm ok with that. It seems like we're in some sort of phase in this world of trying to out-do each other, show our perfect lives. We see it everywhere: Facebook, Instagram... You know what I'm talking about.
I had a lovely lunch with a friend last week and we were talking about that fact. People pretending that everything is wonderful and perfect in their life. "Faking" it. There is a time to fake it and be positive, but not at the detriment to yourself or your loved ones. Let's be 'real'... no one is perfect and you should be ok with that too!
Why am I ok with not being perfect? I have a relationship with Jesus, a perfect God. In my weakness (imperfections) he is my strength. I learn most when I learn from my imperfections. And there's nothing like being a wife and mother to show you your imperfections let me tell you. It's like a mirror in your face! When I'm getting frustrated at my son and say, "Jack, please be patient!" I can hear the Lord telling me (in a more loving way than me talking to Jack), Lulu, be patient my child. Seriously it's allll the time. I'm still imperfect and I'm still learning.
The best part is that the Lord doesn't expect me to be perfect. One of my favorite Bible verses is this: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." -Ephesians 2:8 & 9 The Bible clearly says here that we are saved and enter Heaven by grace alone. Not by deeds, not if we're a good person. It is the grace and mercy from God, accepting Jesus into our hearts. That is good news, we don't have to be perfect! We just have to believe and accept the gift.
So don't try to be perfect because no one is. Be real, be imperfect. Accept grace, accept the gift - it's free from God. He created you, loves you, IN your imperfections.

Such a good thought to think about! It truly lessens the stress to know that we don't even have to fake perfection! That it doesn't even matter because perfection wasn't meant for us alone.
ReplyDeleteI liked the verses very much, and I agree with you. I talk to a friend of mine about fake lives on internet, that when I post about mine I try to be as real as possible, but with balance. I won't post every single thing, like some people do and I still don't get why. I mean, posting the cup of tea and the slice of bread in the morning, receiving food at a restaurant on a date and saying "wait! First a photo!". I respect the tastes of people, but that is simply not me and for my likes, a bit too much. And yes, people try to put others down. I have a "friend" that seemed to be very nice and suddenly, when someone somehow surpasses her she starts leaving nasty comments. So among 70 people, one nasty comment, and you know it will be from the so-called friend. It's sad, why people are this way? I agree with you - we are all imperfect. We should all learn from our imperfections, be it through faith and also trying to act accordingly, to what we think is better. But some people are living too fast and far from reality lives to look at other things! I hope you have a very nice day and I loved your post!

Simply beautiful and heartfelt message. It is so strange that blogs/Instagram/social media gives just a small snapshot of people's lives. It can truly appear to be so picturesque. God is so good that he sees it all, every aspect of our lives, and still wants to "follow" us, "like" us, does not "block" us, and waits for "comments" from us. He sees that ugly side that others would turn away from and embraces us with open arms. Thank you for such a wonderful reminder and it is so good to hear from another Christian woman.
