Where's Lulu?

Hey all!  I know it's been forever since I last published a post.  I'm still here... busy and felt like I needed an extended break.  So what have I been up to?  Decorating, getting into shape and traveling!  Follow me on Instagram (@thelaurelane) for more :)

In February my husband and I had a little get away to Arizona.  We married in February and it's great month to get away and celebrate.  Sadly most years we have been so busy to get away, but this year we took time, which we needed!

When we got home I was rested and ready for a new project.  I decided to start on redecorating my kids rooms.  I've been promising them since we moved in and they really needed it!  I started on Jack's room since I already had an idea of what I wanted to do.  Growing up my mom had redecorated my room while I was away at summer camp.  It was a memory I'll never forget and one I wanted to give my kids, but it wasn't summer and they weren't going to camp!  So what to do...  Since they like to have "sleep overs" together I thought I'd just have them have a 3 week sleep over in each others room.  Yes, it took me 3 weeks....  Ugh.  I had some furniture to repaint and if you read my blog or follow me on Instagram you know how much I hate to paint!

Here is Jack's room before.

Jack's room after:

Jack loved his room and I loved seeing his reaction.  The funniest thing Jack said, "so now I have 2 pillows?"  :)  Haha, yes, you have 2 pillows bud.  To see my kids so happy is such a gift!

Between the 2 projects I went to visit one of my best friends who now lives in Georgia.  We were neighbors growing up and have known each other for 40 years!  Yikes that makes me sound so old.  We had so much fun listening to old records (yes you read that right), we had dance parties, shopping trips, hikes and dinner & drinks out.  It was just what this momma needed - a girls weekend!

After I came back from Georgia I was ready to get on Ella's room.  Her room which was a bit more tricky.  She had picked out a crazy bedspread and pillow over the summer and I did not know how I was going to pick out the colors for her room.  So I went with old faithful - pink!  To bring in all the colors from this crazy pillow I bought some more pillows with the same colors and painted a flower wreath around her initials.  I loved how it turned out and so did she.

The funnies thing Ella said, "It's so clean!"  Yes, Ella, it's clean & let's keep it that way! :)

In January I had decided I wanted to get back to working out on a consistent basis.  I started slowly while doing some research on a new program call The FASTer Way to Fat Loss.  I follow a blogger that has been talking about this program since last fall and her results are amazing.  The program focuses on both nutrition and working out.  I started this program at the end of February and I'm in my 5th week and seeing some great results.  I'm learning more and more about nutrition, what and when to eat.  I'm learning how to workout better to fight fat and get stronger.  I'm feeling more confident, stronger and excited to make this a lifestyle.  Listen peeps, I'm NOT saying it's easy.  As I mentioned on this Instagram post I don't love to workout.  I might not ever, but after I do I feel SO much better.  What gets me excited to workout though is NEW workout clothes!  :) HAHA!
